Arka Gdynia will have to pay former coach Marek Jarolím for another two years. The costly staffing mistake was confirmed by Łukasz Gikiewicz on the '1 Liga Styl Życia' program, describing the chaotic tenure of the Czech manager.
Jarolím took over Arka in the summer with the goal of a rapid return to the Ekstraklasa. His tenure lasted just ten matches, recording four wins, two draws, and four losses. The board's patience ran out by the end of September, with Tomasz Grzegorczyk taking his place. The issue, however, is the three-year contract Jarolím signed with the club.
Łukasz Gikiewicz did not hold back criticism of the previous coach's methods. "This specialist from the Czech Republic had no idea. Coach Jarolim, who was surprised by how professional the first league is, is gone," he said. He added that in the first weeks of preparation, Jarolím came to training without notes, confusing the staff. "From what I hear, he will be 'on Arka Gdynia's payroll' for two years," stated Gikiewicz.
For Arka, which finished last season in 17th place in the table with 36 points, such commitments are particularly painful.
The next test awaits the team on October 24th in a home clash with Nieciecza, who sit in 18th position. The budget burden of the former coach's salary certainly won't make achieving this season's sporting goals any easier.
