Arka Gdynia have failed in their attempt to appoint Tomasz Becella as their new head coach. The I Liga club held talks with the former GKS Katowice manager, but a deal could not be reached.
Becella, who managed GKS Katowice last season, was a leading candidate to fill the vacancy left by Tomasz Grzegorczyk. Negotiations, however, did not lead to an agreement. "Talks were held, but we could not find common ground," a club representative said. Becella's decision means Arka must continue their search.
The club from Gdynia is in a difficult phase of the season. After nine matchdays, Arka sit 12th in the I Liga table with 11 points, having recorded three wins, two draws, and four defeats. Their form over the last five games reads one win, two draws, and two losses, with a 2-1 defeat to Pogoń Siedlce in their most recent outing. They trail league leaders Pogoń Grod. Mazowiecki by seven points.
The squad is dealing with the consequences of instability in the dugout. The club must now find a solution quickly to reverse the negative results trend. The next test is a home fixture against 6th-placed Polonia Warszawa on October 10th.
The search for a new manager continues, with the Arka board analysing further options. Appointing a coach who can unite the squad ahead of the autumn fixtures is now the immediate priority. A further announcement on the matter is expected in the coming days.
