Arka Gdynia are close to appointing a new head coach, with Tomasz Grzegorczyk the leading candidate for the role. The club parted ways with previous manager Marek Jarolim last Tuesday, September 22, following a poor start to the season.
Łukasz Gikiewicz confirmed the advanced talks, stating: "Tomasz Grzegorczyk is close to taking up the position at Arka Gdynia." The 45-year-old coach is no stranger to the Gdynia-based club. He previously managed the first team in 2024, achieving an impressive record of ten wins in twelve league matches at that time. Since then, he worked as an assistant to Robert Kolendowicz at Pogoń Szczecin, with his contract there expiring in June of this year.
The decision to change came after a run of poor results. Arka Gdynia currently sit 12th in the I Liga table, with just 11 points from nine games. Their recent form over the last five matches shows only one win, two draws, and two defeats, including losses to Warta Poznań (3-0) and Pogoń Siedlce (2-1).
Marek Jarolim, who was on a two-year contract, managed Arka in ten official matches, winning four. The new coach will face the task of reversing the negative trend and improving the team's league position.
The first test for the new manager, should an agreement be reached, will be the 10th round match. Arka Gdynia will play at home against Polonia Warszawa, who currently sit in sixth place. The squad list and current statistics are available in our squad and stats sections. The club hopes Grzegorczyk's return will bring an immediate improvement in results and help close the seven-point gap to leaders Pogoń Grod. Mazowiecki.
